Position Summary
The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering drawings, product specifications, FAA regulations, and AS9100 quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports manufacturing operations by performing inspections, maintaining calibration systems, resolving quality-related issues, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Work is performed in warehouse, office, and controlled environmental areas.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
-Inspect incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and FAA requirements.
-Perform dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, optical comparators, hardness testers, and CMM equipment.
-Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, ANSI Y14.5 standards, and product specifications.
-Document inspection results and maintain quality records in accordance with AS9100 and FAA requirements.
-Identify and report nonconforming material and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
-Schedule, maintain, and manage calibration of inspection and measurement equipment to ensure certification compliance and traceability to national standards.
-Support internal audits and external regulatory inspections, including FAA and AS9100 audits.
-Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and support continuous improvement efforts.
-Maintain compliance with company quality procedures, work instructions, and safety standards.
-Maintain organized inspection documentation and records.
-Complete assigned tasks independently while meeting designated lead times.
-Communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors regarding quality requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
-Minimum 5 years of quality inspection experience in a machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment.
-Strong working knowledge of precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
-Experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) preferred.
-Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and ANSI Y14.5 standards.
-Familiarity with AS9100 and FAA quality requirements preferred.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
-Experience with D365 ERP system is a plus.
-Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
-Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Work Environment
This position requires work in warehouse, office, and controlled environmental areas and may involve standing for extended periods while performing inspections and measurements.
